The FAA grounded all of them this afternoon too.

Lots of the repairs in the dates I reviewed past 2-3 years involved dealing with corrosion. Including the one last Sept. I guess Boeing recommended grounding them and UPS and Fed Ex grounded theirs & only one company that hadn't that by this morning. But I think it's the engine the MD 11 uses.

I looked online at some of the maintenance records including the ones from its last "heavy"/C? check last fall and I think the center wing upper fuel tank had cracks repaired in 2023 and 2025 and the inspection in 2023 showed a prior repair with a crack in it. I don't know about day of flight.

Wierd thing is that I wouldn't be surprised if Trump decides to go at the last minute.

I'm glad he's my governor.

Wait, the plane was in San Antonio, TX and having a crack in one of the fuel tanks repaired.

More than likely if it was a "C" check it would have been done in Louisville.
November 5, 2025 at 11:36 PM
Did they know if that maintenance was a "C" check? Typically planes can be grounded for up to a month for one of those.
November 5, 2025 at 11:35 PM
I doubt it. Since it involved an engine apparently (#1) maybe maintenance. I did read somewhere that the plane involved underwent maintenance on #1 pre-flight. Still trying to verify that. Engine debris photos were posted including a large piece of engine. Appeared to be related. Same make & model

Maintenance is done by the airlines. It would be UPS that would be responsible for maintaining the aircraft that crashed.

Though UPS has laid off tens of thousands of employees recently. Not clear if any were in airplane maintenance.

No. Engine #1 caught b/f or after V1. If anything, they'll look very closely at maintenance records for the engines and their components. Engines were either GE or P&W.

ATC likely had nothing to do with it but probably saw it happen.

Either then or on the 10/18 No Kings march.

Most far right Christians don't recognize Mormons as true Chritians. What an opportunist.

I stopped watching MSNBC over a year ago but I find it fitting that after firing most of their diversity to appease MAGA, they decided to air a Klan rally. Not surprised.

It always bothers me when the #2 dude at DOJ is quoted via his DOJ title which is Deputy AG the fact that he's Trump's own criminal defense atty is completely ignored including that he was the atty in the 34 felony convictions trial.
