Celebrate World Migratory Bird Day 2025 with us at a litter clean up, Sat, May 17, 10am-noon at Pier 8 in Hamilton. Meet at our Purple Martin house by the rink! Free giveaways (buttons, stickers, info. materials) and litter clean-up supplies. Bring water and sunscreen!

Thanks to Mayor @mariannemeedward.bsky.social for proclaiming Saturday, May 10th, World Migratory Bird Day in #BurlON! In addition, the Brant Street Pier beacon lighting will go dark at 10pm to raise awareness of Lights Out actions people can take to help migrating birds stay safe in May. #WMBD2025

Thanks to @burlingtongreen.bsky.social for sending volunteers to clean this section of Burlington Bay shoreline during recent Eco-Action days at the Beach. Led by BFHB Co-chair Dave, we collected 12 full bags of litter! This area is a big litter trap and a designated Important Bird Area.

Spring bird migration is ON (peaks mid-May, ends early June). Millions of birds will pass overhead while we sleep; many will stop to refuel around our communities. Let's keep them safe:

Earth Hour is Sat., March 22! Join the world in switching off from 8:30pm-9:30pm, as a symbolic gesture of support for our planet. Spend the time doing something positive for Earth, or planning how you can live a more eco-friendly (and bird-friendly) lifestyle this year!
