9/ When hype about growth and cutting red tape drives deregulation and advisors go unchallenged, the result isn’t innovation. It’s regulatory capture – and we all pay for it.
November 5, 2025 at 9:57 AM
8/ And behind that hype sits another problem: a government too timid to question its own “independent” scientific advisers – even when their evidence is partial, conflicted or flat-out wrong.

7/ Claims of the growth potential of argi-biotech are not supported by any economic analysis. No one in government can say how much taxpayer money has been spent on decades of GMO development or what the return on that investment has been. The numbers don’t exist – only the hype.

4/ We filed complaints, along with evidence of the misleading nature of the figures used by Emma Hardy MP and Baroness Hayman, asking for the Parliamentary record to be corrected. Months of silence followed.

3/ Those figures, carelessly lifted from think tank propaganda & obscure academic research, DID NOT refer to the UK nor to agricultural biotechnology BUT were, nevertheless, presented to Parliament as ‘proof’ of GM-PBOs’ domestic growth potential.
November 5, 2025 at 9:57 AM
2/ Figures were quoted suggesting the UK was losing $182 billion to $356 billion annually by not fully deregulating GM-PBOs and that current regulations added a stifling 74% to the cost of marketing for businesses.
