My understanding is the Voice Actors consented for the AI generation of more voice lines based off their previous work to be used. It's still a wasteful use of resources, and I'm never going to advocate for it. This one is slightly more nuanced than the usual blatantly evil uses.

This has happened before time and time again throughout history. The responses will be mixed. There used to be farthings (quarter pennies) and ha'pennies (half pennies). When they cease to be minted, essentially things get rounded to the nearest active denomination, as this balances out over time.
