I know a lot of otherwise intelligent, highly educated people who believe catching or spreading COVID is no big deal because they think it’s essentially harmless, esp. if you’re vaccinated. They assume CVD isn’t a problem because no one in authority tells them it is.

Because per 2020 census, 8.5 million people live in NYC, about 2.6% of US pop., this race is seen as a bellwether for the direction of Dem party nationally, and MAGA hates NYC. Also, some of us find Mamdani’s joy & positivity life giving.

Plus you know the people who flippantly say "churches should do X" aren't doing any of the volunteer work that sustains congregations, & sure as hell aren't going to volunteer for long shifts washing dishes & chopping vegetables. A wealthy nation shouldn't rely on charity to feed its people.

So clueless. My smallish church has a pastor, a few part-time staff, and a whole lotta volunteers. We do a lot to help our neighbors--but to think we could add a full-time food service operation to the work already needed just to keep the heat on, doors open, and staff paid, is absurd.
