The Pali Canon contains numerous sutras concerning female laity and clerics. In Vajrayana there are lineages such as that of Machig Labdron which present complete paths of practice specific for humans with wombs.

The ones that don't aren't keeping up the Buddhas traditions since the lineages of nuns were established by the Buddha in his lifetime. It's that simple. Just because a group may claim to be a Buddhist school doesn't mean they really are.

Most Buddhist schools have nuns. They know their own history and often present it to the laity during dharma/dhamma talks. There are also practices and vows specific for the practice of women whether clerical or laity.
