We’ll just avoid it. My nuclear family members share the same values but my family of origin is not on the same page. We have lots of other things in common to enjoy the holiday.

People who can afford it find AL more attractive - private rooms, etc., but level of need is often similar to NF level of care. And “memory care” may be a locked unit, medication, etc. like a NF.

It’s close but looks like Starbucks has edged out nursing homes. But there are a lot of assisted living facilities that are institutional so I’d say it’s a valid comparison to start a conversation.
