#RNZ describes Owen’s views as ‘controversial’. Why not tell the truth and call her what she is - a liar

Oh, the irony of a member of this government criticising others for lack of integrity. Dirs Judith Collins ever reflect on her starring role in Dirty Politics?

I suspect you’re right - I’m not a buyer, I read it in my local cafe (and do the crosswords). Mind you, hard to tell who is the target market for the herald. The print copy is basically crap.

They get very little coverage in the media (going by granny herald) so hard to get their messages out.

Glad I got to swim this morning.

Luxon came back from Asian trip spouting support for rules based trade while at the same time his govt is trashing existing agreements / commitments. #nzpol

The clarity and directness of the language that is so affecting.

I am having to pace my reading of it. In part to take time to think through ideas and wording but mostly because I am so angry about these men ( in the trial) and our social structure and, of so many things! I probably sound as if I’ve never thought about these issues before, but no. It’s really

It’s really well written and translated. I was tempted to read it by a good review and am very glad I was. It’s not a heavy read; it’s thoughtful and clear - and very informative about French culture and the philosophical issues of consent / submission / social norms and more.

Every day I think I can’t despise this government more - every day I’m proven wrong.

Currently reading Living with men: reflections on the Pelicot trial by @manongarcia.Bluesky.social. Helping me find ways of thinking about why so many men behave without regard to others’ rights and their autonomy- and how our culture enables them

High rental costs probably have more impact than staff costs.

I am reading this at the moment thanks to #AucklandLibraries. Enjoying it very much.

Yeah - but they’re not serious (sadly). Only a way to get a headline as adding a bill to the biscuit tin does not guarantee its progress.

Prescription sunglasses were a real life changer! Love mine.

I wonder how much of this is about generating more income for the Eden Park Trust Board so they can pay off their debt(s)?

Yeah. The swim was lovely but it shouldn’t have been!

Also in Grey Lynn. Went swimming this morning - the sea is warmer now than it often used to in summer.

As long as there’s an exemption for people whose phones play directly into their hearing aids.

And the sole policy goal here is reducing cost to government

Thought you made good points. We’ve seen elsewhere that when police are handed broad powers they enjoy using them. Found Bates’ comments about something not being “the kiwi way” and then labelling what you said “provocative” (it wasn’t) indicative if how he wants to shape the narrative.
