Just saw the 80s sci-fi romance "Cherry 2000", set in 2017. Got a lot wrong about the future, but nailed the part where women want bodily autonomy and consent & men only want totally accommodating sex robots!

Watching Burns’s American Revolution and this is my takeaway. I didn’t realize how ignorant I’d been to this basic foundational truth.

My sister (2 years my junior) was in Bolivia in Peace Corp around the same time; I’d just moved from DC to SF. Our mom sent us both detailed instructions on how to make Tday dinner — recipes and timelines. We all cooked at the same time, many miles apart. It helped collapse the distance.

Read it many years ago as part of a multigenerational book club I’ve been in for 25 years (!). We read a lot of wonderful fiction, non fiction, and poetry but this book has stayed with me. Just reading your post made my heart ache.
