Unfortunately, Mitch's consistent pattern has been to speak out against what Trump wants, and then to cave and vote in favor of it on the Senate floor. His words mean nothing.

As disturbing as this report is, it's at least as disturbing to me that such deeply damning information got buried and was never acted upon. I wonder what excuse the committee will offer for that.

My guess is that they don't. Magats have a well-established history of voting against their own self-interest because the cult leader told them to. (Ditto members of Congress, btw, but that's a separate conversation.)

Every word is true. The problem is that, no matter how bad things get, all Trump has to do is lie that everything is going great, and the magats will believe him over their own eyes and ears. It's what they do, and it's how we got here.

A big problem is that McConnell has spoken out against Trump a number of times, but never had enough spine to back it up with action. If he once again ends up voting the way Trump tells him to (I'm looking at you, border bill) his talk means nothing.
