We are moved by this piece that highlights how so many of us crave connection across lines of difference — racial, political, economic, and more — but often lack the opportunities or spaces to do so. It’s a reminder that bridging divides isn’t a partisan issue; it’s a human one.

We’re especially inspired by how this citizens assembly integrated equity into its design from the start. As we work to build trusted, local structures for collective problem-solving, examples like this remind us what’s possible when communities lead the way.

Better Together came together as the result of a diverse group of pro-democracy advocates, supported by the Mediators’ Foundation. Workshop how to address the needs of local, grassroots initiatives and unite these efforts with the sprawling national pro-democracy networks that dominate the sector.
