It was bound to happen. I just hope there are millions of Americans with their heads in their hands right now, rocking back and forth repeating, "what the fuck have we done?".

My only advice is, you can patch that, but there's probably an underlying reason why it is happening and if you patch it, you'll solve the cosmetic issue, but it's likely going to happen again. If there's moisture coming down from an upstairs bathroom or attic, that should get looked at.
