I was basically at rock bottom. I'd given up on having a career or even living on me own at that point. I had no plan. i didn't care what happened with this idea, I just felt inspired by it, so I started writing. and now it's a 384-page book! 3 months till it comes out officially 🫡☀️

this is an old thread but some folks are still finding it and in light of the stuff with the Trevor Project and the supreme court ruling maybe it's worth reposting just in case anybody is looking for some concrete stuff that's definitely helped me hang in there during really hard moments
okay, so. i have bipolar disorder. we have a suicide rate of about 1/5. i've basically spent my entire teenage and adult life trying not to kill myself. so with that in mind, here are my tips on how to hang in there: 1) don't isolate. i know all the excuses. but don't do it

music in general but singing is the one thing we can do (outside of percussion) without any outside items. just ourselves making sounds together that we find beautiful and meaningful

sometimes when I get sad about people I think about singing and how cool it is that we figured out how to do that and that it's meaningful to us to do it together even when we're not good at it individually. all cultures, all peoples, all places, we like to sing

I’m always thinking about fun summer days. This happy scene is inspired by my memories of vacations on Cape Cod. Thinking about drinking lemonade on that porch looking out at the sea on a bright summer’s day. I hope you enjoy.
