We normalized mass infection so thoroughly that even healthcare workers, who see the consequences firsthand, don’t feel entitled to the most basic protections. They clock in, accept the risk, get sick & come back to do it again—thus Covid abandonment has made these hard jobs even more brutal.

It’s not just policy failure—it’s ideological. Masking is framed as *my* need, *my* vulnerability, not as a collective necessity. Even when they acknowledge how much sickness is spreading, protecting themselves (even from having to work through illness) isn’t part of the equation

that festival was during hurricane Irene and it got rained out so bad, they ended up moving it to the Liacouras center and it did not work great at all there
