Apparently, according to Lawrence, no one except those who have worked in the senate know how difficult it is. And they don't know all the competing constituencies a senator has. So they must must withhold their criticism . And he's very angry at all the uninformed opinions he's hearing.

I think I read that too. Might be pretty valuable to some people needing government contracts, etc. But probably they were just having nice luncheons together.
