This. Exactly this. Or, "It looks like you are trying to generate subtotals in your dataset. Would you like me to put 2 million records into a CTE, max out temp dB and crash your server?"

I can't decide if this is cute or unsettling.

I'm shocked. SHOCKED.

Well, they've certainly failed at that.

At my company, I AM the team handling it. It's like trying to staple jam to a tree. If I hear the term "Citizen Developer" or "just let AI do it" one more time . . .

Remember Dreamweaver? Homesite? . . . Groan.

I'm half expecting them to bring back that damn paperclip animation. "Tap tap tap, It looks like you're trying to query a database. Want me to screw it up for you?" Then copilot will offer to help write your message to your IT help desk when that sh*t doesn't work.

And they roll everything out wide open. It's a nightmare for BI Admins in companies that need to be both SOX and DFARS compliant. I have to go into the admin section of all the power platform apps at least once a month to turn off new things that could hose our security.

I'm not a fan. As my company's BI manager, I'm hearing from every person who took a python course and can make a pivot table and now calls themself a data scientist. They want to be "Citizen Developers" as Microsoft calls them, and don't understand why they can't write code against a production db
