That’s exactly how I felt - pathetic. Our closest ally looking on and asking “how is this really happening? How can they add tariffs on auto components that travel across the border 5 times until it becomes a car? Don’t they know it’s throwing both countries into a recession/depression?” 🧐

So I summed it up as a lot of hope, lots of cobbled-together alliances, trust in our systems even as they are being handicapped daily, and the ability to keep showing up monthly to protests and smaller actions. And honestly, I don’t know if it’s enough. But we’ll keep trying.

It was a long chat and his shock that there isn’t something like a 10-point plan already was palpable. I told him we’re living in a nightmare but it’s a long road to save our Democracy even though 🍊🤡 is executing project 2025 quickly. I even explained the 3.5% rule.

Team effort among democracy loving organizations (activists and organizers), large non-profits, lawmakers and voters. When he asked about the daily efforts by 🍊🤡 to crash the economy (tariffs, meddling with the Fed, creating market instability) I explained dark money/Citizens United, & billionaires.

And there’s so much more! But it really was sobering to hear that Canada is expecting the Democrats to come up w/ a grand solution. I told him the Dems are good at governing, but we need non-stop messaging & the Dems are terrible at that (with a few exceptions). So I explained it’s a team effort…
