Testing is different than screening. Screening can be done by physicians, nurse practitioners etc using tools like the MSE. Cognitive testing is more lengthly and can only be performed by a trained psychologist or neuropsychologist. It’s a battery of tests interpreted together.

Yes. Putting all of the pieces together I suspect Trump has Alzheimer’s Disease and is being treated for it.

Fun fact - one of the newer medications to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease has a potential side effect of brain bleeds and so someone taking it would require frequent MRIs. Trump’s father had Alzheimer’s.

Do you think that is solely what was administered to him? I think I was trying to make the point that mental status exams are used to screen everyone over a certain age but cognitive testing indicates the identification and tracking of existing decline. But I welcome any feedback to that idea.

Just talked to my 84 year-old mom who thought he was referring to a mental status exam which is routinely given to people 65+ by their doctor. Nope - this is cognitive testing which is only given when there are signs of dementia. Three times means they are measuring rate and extent of decline.

My 84 year-old mother assumed he was referring to the mental status exam which is routinely given to people 65+ by their doctors. But this looks like the cognitive exam that is given to determine whether someone has dementia. Three times means they are measuring the rate and extent of deterioration.
