“Sing the World” – Antonio Estevez’s “Mata del Anima Sola” is characterised by contrast - a slow, meditative solo opening evoking solitude, vastness, mystery & an atmosphere of stillness, followed by a vibrant pulse of folk rhythm in which the choir provides the sound of the instruments.

"Sing the World" - Canticum is thrilled to perform a new 8-part composition by Slovenian Nana Forte, “O Oriens”. A choral singer herself, Forte has created rich harmonies, rhythmical flow, interwoven parts – a beautiful setting of a beautiful text, everything a choir and audience could wish for.

“Sing the World” – "Pro patria mori", by Brisbane composer Phillip Gearing, was born out of a visit by the composer to the grave in north-west France of his great-uncle who died of wounds in 1917, and viewing a powerful display of armed conflicts since 1950 at the Imperial War Museum in Manchester.

Morten Lauridsen’s "Sure on this Shining Night" is described as a meditation on kindness, peace & wonder. Written in solitude on Waldron Island in the far wildlands of Washington state, the piece speaks of healing, health, & awe — themes that resonate deeply in times of uncertainty and reflection.

Sing the World - 30 years of Canticum. The traditional isiXhosa song "Indodana", arranged by South African composers Michael Barrett & Ralf Schmitt, mourns the crucifixion of Christ with haunting harmonies & spiritual depth making it one of the most emotionally resonant pieces in choral repertoire.

Sing the World - 30 years of Canticum. "Ave Maris Stella" is by Norwegian composer Trond Kverno (b 1945). This compelling and atmospheric piece blends ancient medieval text, chant, and contemporary rhythmic styles, the contrasting styles making it a very expressive work.
