likely lead to highly ineffective actions. Ie - the white male vision of equality, with all the best intentions, is unlikely to be much good at all. At the time I was sure this had cost me the interview (apparently not) but does seem to speak to an entrenched problem at Leeds that has persisted 3/4

He questioned the benefit of ‘sitting around talking about the issues rather than devising actions’ - I pointed out that given the state of mid to upper management at universities including Leeds, failing to provide space for affected groups and individuals to discuss, share and support would 2/3

This is interesting. I’m about to finish a PhD at Leeds uni - at my interview I was challenged (by a white male academic) on the benefit of a conference I had organised as an undergrad to bring together a variety of groups across STEM to discuss the intersection of EDI issues 1/3
