Funny, I thought Republicans were the majority. How did the “Democrats vote [it] down?” The majority can go nuclear and eliminate the filibuster. So I’d say they chose not to so they are responsible.

But they don’t. The majority party could choose to eliminate the filibuster on a simple majority vote. The Democrats did it in 2013 for some presidential appointments and the Republicans did it in 2017 for Supreme Court nominations. The filibuster is a Senate rule and the majority controls those.

He’s useless. I’m decidedly unimpressed. Milquetoast. I disagree with a lot of what Newsom has done but at least he’s showing fire and not bringing a “strongly worded letter” to a gunfight! We need to see that from Jeffries, Schumer, and other Dems in DC. Mamdani is showing it in NYC.

He lost a closed primary (which is how NY primaries work.) He’s figuring he’ll get independent and Republican votes in the General Election in addition to the Dem votes he’ll still draw in November to put him over the top.

My mother doesn’t have to depend on it fortunately but she’s not an idiot and she keeps track of her money. The second that money wasn’t in her account she’d be on the phone and she’d stay on hold as long as it took!

But I was told over and over again that this was what the 2nd Amendment was for. This is why we all needed guns…to protect us from government tyranny. So why am I not seeing the zealous 2A advocates out in the streets holding off masked men from kidnapping and disappearing their neighbors?
