At parent’s evening for my 7 year old yesterday, his teacher admitted to using empty threats and little lies - like telling the kids they are already missing break time because of their behaviour when it hasn’t actually started yet. Is this normal/ok? 🤔

“One underlying, constant thing that I noticed every single time I take social media breaks is this: my burning desires for a lot of things/experiences would vanish, and I’m suddenly grateful for the life I’m living.”

My 7 year old: “Tomorrow’s going to be the BEST DAY EVER”
Me: “Because you’re going to see Father Christmas?”
My 7 year old: “Yeah that, and we get to open a new tube of toothpaste. I literally can’t wait!”

3yo: “Would you like a unicorn sticker?”
Me: “No thank you”
3 yo: “Do you like unicorns?”
Me: “Yes”
3yo: “Do you like stickers?”
Me: “Yes”
3yo: “Then you DO want one. Mummy, just be who you are.”

My 3yo: “Joseph knocked on the door and there was NO ROOM so they went to sleep in an animal burrow and lived happily ever after.”

I just learned that rats laugh when you tickle them and now I want one.

Up to my usual tricks hanging from the ceiling after work on a week night. This move is called a ‘half monty’ or a ‘scorpion’ 🦂
