As a translational scientist who is generally pulled toward ecological network models of cognition, I’d love to read more consciousness work that considers a network of ecological factors for consciousness, specifically. Do you have recommendations in that regard, Dr. Seth? (or anyone else!)

I also waited in line for about 10 hours for a general admission Incubus show on campus (at Fresno State) back in 2003 or 2004. Made it right up front. Worth it.

I took my friend who had never heard of The Decemberists to their “I’ll Be Your Girl” show at The Palace in Saint Paul (2018?), and during a dramatic confetti blast at the end of “Everything is Awful”, he joyfully proclaimed it to be the best concert he’d ever attended.

Or what does it look like, rather. Obviously these models aren’t human, but is there an analogous design we could consider in creating the next iteration of LLM and AI? Would that help it to become more authentically generative rather than simply imitative?

I’d be interested to consider what a more embodied and ecologically connected “Turing test” would involve. What does a language model’s version of complex cognition involve?
