People used to buy rental properties as a pension scheme or long term investment. These days it's extortion and monthly profit. Landlords with 2+ houses should have to be licensed, publicly registered & strictly regulated with punitive penalties for those who don't comply.

Maybe we need investment alternatives for those people with wealth who end up as landlords. Make access to stocks, bonds etc more straightforward, while at the same time creating a right to housing, landlord licences, secure tenancy agreements & rent caps.
