The rules; Don't side with bullies. Never be cruel or cowardly. Try to be nice but always be kind.
Captain America started out working for Nazi analogues in that film, he just didn't realise it at the time. When he found out "oops, Nazis" he proceeded to blow them up.

Did you not hear the "Dicks Fuck Assholes" monologue?

That was endorsing the war on terror and the Bush regime's policies.

That is because you are sane and your brain is not poisoned. The Guard faction leader is black.

Therefore the west has fallen and something about billions having to polish? IDK, I stop listening.

1. The two games have different release windows. There are people will buy both nad play both. I know because I'm one of those people.

2. GW is not fussy and is the Glut of Mammon given earthly form. If they think they can get cash from licencing deals they will try to get cash from licencing deals

Ah, the USian fascination with skull measuring blood magic race science, how you rear your head.
December 13, 2025 at 1:22 PM
*British.

40k, like Judge Dredd or 2000AD is British Science Fiction, hence why everything sucks.

He also had a ship called "The Iron Hand". Lionel Johnson was a poet who wrote about his doomed gay love affair in his poem "His Dark Angel". Lion El'Johnson is the Primarch of the Dark Angels. The Primarch of the Raven Guard is literally called "Crow".

I could go on...

A French bread machine!?

This could be a cultural thing, because I'm not a USian, but doing the work is more important than just showing up. Whether it's a Sikh with the five Ks or a man in a dog collar, as long as the job gets done I couldn't care less.

To the fanatics who turned up to the shelter, yes. Because those individuals were fanatics. They didn't do anything useful, they didn't join in with the kitchen, change the sheets or even help with distributing the cold weather clothing.

They just handed out copies of The War Cry and proselytised.

Unsurprisingly, not all Catholics proscribe to the more hateful teachings and I'm loathe to judge billions of human beings for a shared cultural touchstone.

I have many objections to the Catholic Church, but I don't allow those to colour my interactions with individual Catholics.
December 10, 2025 at 3:31 PM
Oh, no, I agree. The way that trans people and the topic of gender has been weaponised in the culture war to rollback on freedoms and rights across the west is horrible.

*to find it
December 10, 2025 at 11:25 AM
This is often true, though not always. I have an epigenetic aversion to men in cassocks, but I am fortunate to know some who walk the walk that I met whilst working with a local shelter. I'd take them over the Salvation Army fanatics any day of the week.
December 10, 2025 at 11:24 AM
I wouldn't go that far. The RCC's behaviour around the global south puts a lie to the idea that they aren't connected to empire.

The fact that we're of Irish stock is also a reason why we're largely *not religious*. We have memories of the laundries as intergenerational trauma.

They came to mass hoping for a reinforcement of their hate and instead came away brow-beaten and shamed into making donations to Crisis and Shelter.
December 10, 2025 at 9:24 AM
I have the opposite experience. I come from a long line of Irish Catholic and with little exception we're all essentially athiests with strong social consciences and varying levels of political activism.

The converts I know are mostly former protestants who found their churches to be too Liberal.
December 10, 2025 at 9:23 AM
It's still there in certain ways- but the best place tonfisn it is the Black library books - especially those by Denny Flowers and Mike Brooks.
December 10, 2025 at 8:57 AM
Honestly? I wouldn't know without asking them. Attempts to tie questions about human sociology to hard and fast views on biology are inherently flawed.
December 10, 2025 at 8:43 AM
I mean, the Fallout show works - but that's because it gets the inherently silly nature of the setting and franchise.

40k needs the same levels of self awareness.
December 10, 2025 at 8:40 AM
There's the old trope about how those raised in Catholicism have vague levels of social consciousness ingrained into them along witn a general aura of agnosticism, whilst adult converts are somehwre to the right of Mussolini and have strong views on medieval jurisprudence.
December 10, 2025 at 8:38 AM
No worries. Social media's a bitch when you can't read tone.
December 9, 2025 at 11:33 PM
And I was agreeing with you; if you need to point to the Ancient Aeldari Empire as a reason why the Imperium isn't so bad, you're cooked.

That's like saying "oh sure, we do evil stuff, but the most evil thing ever to exist that no longer exists was once worse".

It's not a defense, m'dudes.
