The answers are the South African and his hackers, whoever he wants to, and absolutely nothing. And the systems meant to provide protection for identity theft and consumer protection are being dismantled.

You can look back and see where you went wrong and have regrets based on new knowledge, but it is in cognitive dissonance. If you look back and see that you were not living authentically at that time, then that is dissonance.

They are sort of opposite definitions. Cognitive dissidence is when you feel like you are not living or behaving in line with your beliefs. If you are living authentically, in line with your values and beliefs as much as possible and to the best of your knowledge, then you cannot be in dissonance.

I don't think it's the same. Do you live a life aligned to your beliefs the best you can with the information you have in that moment? If yes, then you are living authentically, not dissonance. But new information can make us exhausted as we have to adjust to continue living that authentic life.
