But shutting government down now does not help us to ensure elections will occur in two years. We need to win back the % of non MAGA people who were deluded into believing trumps economic vision would benefit them. If the market crashes, there’s one party to blame and the truth will win out in time.

I completely agree with your assessment. Another point - if the dems shut down and the market happens to crash, the right wing echo chamber will blame the crash on the dems. They have to own everything that happens economically from now on. A crash now will set up a blue wave at midterms.
