Too bad you are powerless to do anything about anything.

I was surprised last time while swimming in Waikiki to see a monk seal swim up near the beach (everyone had to get out of the water.) Glad they’re getting vaccinated.

I remember Girmay Zahilay saying he was going to require all King County businesses to accept cash. Wonder what happened to that (going to look into it)?Why does every purchase we make have to be captured by tech? And of course if you don’t have a bank account.I avoid places that don’t accept cash.

A reason the be thankful about being old: having a lifetime ATB pass with a more dignified photograph so you don’t have to deal with that nonsense (you become eligible at 62.)

With all due respect to Rep. Jayapal (I live in her district) who has been actively seeking justice and equity for immigrants for years.

I worked at a middle school where a lot of the kids and their fams speak Spanish so I’ve been upping my game the last few years (I know all the swear words.) Fav way to learn has been going to Costa Rica and Mexico, taking lessons and staying w/non-English speaking families.

This is not new as described in the book, “Tell Me How It Ends,” (Luiselli) and is the system supported by BOTH political parties - it’s disgusting. No one wants to “fix” immigration because human trafficking is such a profitable system for so many who then use their profits to keep it in place.

Well I assume they got out. Being a mascot has its hazards!

I read the book a couple of times and have yet to see the musical/movie just because. I tell people the book is much more complex, political and yes, darker.

One of the first things I notice riding the light rail upon returning to the U.S. from Japan, where it’s a priority to not disturb others on public transport by talking on or playing stuff out loud on your phone. Or yelling. Not just polite, the quiet makes it feel safer.

He’s a senator, jerk needs to take responsibility. His actions cost lives an he knows it.

But if you “state plainly” that he’s not above the law, yet do nothing to actually hold him accountable, aren’t you just reinforcing that he is indeed above the law? Why are you telling us this? It’s just depressing af.

And in the state you represent, I’ve read approximately 40% of the hospital beds are owned by the Catholic Church - who limit care for women and trans folk. Wish we had politicians who could actually do something to ensure every Washingtonian has access to quality health care.

@repkimschrier.bsky.social I live in Rep. Jayapal’s district in WA, and am well versed in the discriminatory damages of requiring cash bail. Why would you go out of your way to vote down something that local folks chose to implement? Embarrassed for our WA.Your racism and fascism are showing.

No problem boycotting How to Cook a Wolf in Madison Park - they only got a “Good” not Excellent rating from King County Health Dept. for all their hourly toitiness. Maybe he should focus on that since it’s his job.
