Harvey almost defeated me in grad school(not that one). But there are a few sentences I still remember. I have watched a few of his lectures on YouTube… might be worth a companion to the companion.

Of course your post/these edits make me wonder what prior books you are speaking of? Btw I really enjoyed this book and your & others' historical accounts.

I know it's a cliche to say how much this resembles... all dystopian fiction but, yeah

& respect and appreciation for the closing conclusion "Dreams for the Future of the Disabled Scholars of Color Collective and Critical Race Disability Studies"

May all manifestoes end this way (or consider it)

noting as I read how being publicly visible for scholars of color brings increased vulnerability to right wing backlash orgs. This has always been the case but coming out as more pronounced to me right now

someone recently more or less accosted me at a conference to tell me they were using some sort of nose spray that protects from COVID (explaining why they weren't wearing a mask, like as if I am the mask patrol). I couldn't tell if that was made up or a rich person medication.

agree. I'm maybe a little more lax than you (eating in restaurants is the high risk thing that i do). But the reaction I get a lot of time is guilt. Like "oh do you want me to..." (trails off, does not have mask with them). People know they should & you're a visual reminder.

Nope, no one I am in circles with jokes like this. Please stop normalizing it and note that if you joke like this, you are not just being a regular human.

Can we retire the "father of.."? (Mother Jones' headline not the author's). Especially for Disability Rights where interdependence, not individual leadership is key, and where there are many prominent mother/advocate figures, notably Zona Roberts. As well as many problematic parents (not her though)
