Spotted @markyarm.bsky.social at the Legendary Easy Street Records, which also happens to be my favorite breakfast joint in town. I love how it's always 1994 in there.

Anyway, I loved what this book had to say about Gray Gardens -- among other things. Highly recommend @leilataylor.bsky.social's latest.

I have decided to be the dead chick from Viy for Halloween, and it's the first time I'm dressing up in many years. I'm excited, but would be more so if I could get a flying coffin.

Had a great time at Evergreen-Washelli cemetery in Seattle yesterday, visiting the bees at the Catacomb Bee Collective. They have about 20 hives on 3 acres, plus a hive near the lobby. There's even a display on the custom of "telling the bees." Best honey ever. Story coming soon in Seattle Mag!

Just another morning in war-ravaged Portland, being terrorized by Japanese confections. (With @billy-sigil.bsky.social)

Actually no I'm sorry, the worst thing that happened to me in Portland was when I realized we'd finished this gluten free pizza.

One of my many moods. Also what happens when I don't get what I want.

Heavy Twin Peaks vibes in this 1978 photograph by
Sam Isamu Kimura, held at the Frye museum in Seattle. Also seems ripe for a badass t-shirt. (@markfrost.bsky.social‬ may enjoy)

The Panama Hotel tea house in Seattle has great tea and a great (if very lazy) cat.

Attracted by a note on a sandwich board, I went in to my local John L. Scott office yesterday and saw they have the staircase and chandelier from the OG Frederick & Nelson downtown. A dapper man at the front desk told me people love to come in and tell him stories about their time working there.

The vibes in these 1976 photos of Greek diners at the NYPL are just *chef's kiss* digitalcollections.nypl.org/collections/...

It's a special time in a writer's life when they discover that the articles on a website they used to write for are all gone, the "contributors" replaced by a series of AI-created clones. Can you imagine the utter, vantablank, fetid soullessness that would lead someone to run a site like this?

Truly the only good thing about this bout with COVID is that I finally have time to finish this biography of my beloved Leonora Carrington. I'm learning so much!

The last 2 times we did this, the class sold out! if that keep happening, I *will* get this as a knuckle tattoo.

I suddenly want to know everything about Seattle's first underground newspaper, The Helix. (And because some of the staff later founded HistoryLink, I can! www.historylink.org/file/20971)

It was great to finally visit the shop Kalma in Port Townsend. It's both a death-posi community resource and event space as well a place for really thoughtfully curated "dark" gifts from small makers. Left a signed copy of Rest in Pieces and bought my mom that poster!

This weekend has mostly sucked *but* I got new knife earrings from the wonderful gem that is Doll Parts here in West Seattle. I can't tolerate almost any metals in my ears, but they made these into clip-ons for me! Cat for scale. (They also have ghostie earrings and eyeball earrings!)

Wanted to memorialize the first irises of the season I've seen and realized my neighbor's skeleton flamingo is in festive dress.

Cherry blossoms in bloom over a bridge in Nagasaki, circa 1900-1940, via the wonderful NYPL Digital Collections. I just sent this out to my research class with our weekly email. Next class starts May 11! www.morbidanatomy.org/classes/p/re...

Going through my goth zines from 1995 as inspiration for a current project and I still like this layout, which was probably accomplished with scotch tape, a book from the library, and the synagogue's photocopy machine.
