I don't disagree, but I think people overestimate Twitter's importance to that movement's development and power. I feel 4chan and neo nazi message boards are far more significant platforms for what has happened in the US than twitter was.

I don't disagree, but I think people overestimate Twitter's importance to that movement's development and power. I feel 4chan and neo nazi message boards are far more significant platforms for what has happened in the US than twitter was.
This isn't to say bluesky is better, but at least it doesn't feel like people here are thinking they're changing the world via their posting addiction.

Pre-Musk Twitter was a cultural dead end and in part led us to our present moment. The twitter left failed deeply to translate to the real world, preferring to chase the serotonin high of being right/heard in a bubble. It was fun, but failed.
