COD is a weird game to track now cause it includes players from the last 4 or 5 releases, including warzone. But killing the biggest game for pretty much the last 20years is not going to happen overnight, but the fact that it was 50% off a month after launch is very telling on where it's headed

for Fall 2027 with launch games of its own. The last thing ND wants is intergalactic launching a month or 2 months before PS6. But I guess you'd rather see ND closed than people doing mandatory overtime for a few weeks?

But now you need to deliver. And there is always a buffer placed in schedules for unforseen issues. So the employee saying that they have missed a bunch of deadlines tells me that they are months behind. A game scheduled for mid 2027 being months behind is not good especially with PS6 scheduled

part of the article where he said "a bunch of deadlines were missed". Those deadlines are set by the project managers, but are always approved by the workers, if your boss says we need this in 2 weeks but you say there's no way, that will take 3 weeks, then the schedule changes.

I mean you can't have optional overtime in an industry that relies so heavily on team work. You can't have artists wanting to do overtime if the animators don't cause then you are paying artists to sit and do nothing while the animators catch up. And is everyone just glazing over the most important

artists to sit around and do nothing because they finished their work weeks ago. And not everyone is complaining cupcake. The team on intergalactic is likely 300 or so, and only a couple people who likely complain about everything spoke to Jason. If you don't like it QUIT, no one is keeping you

It's the same thing in video games. Video Game development is such a team effort, can you imagine how far behind animation would be if all the artists chose to do overtime but the animators didn't, now the entire development gets held up cause you need to wait for animators, and you are paying

I hit a nerve. In Architecture, schedules are important, you have to plan construction years in advance, your contractor (the person who builds) and every trade has a particular schedule that the architect makes, when you miss targets you have to pay an entire crew to stand around and do nothing

And the reason overtime has to be mandatory is because game development is massively dependent on working as a team. Animators can't animate if the artists havent done their part. It's honestly the only fair and efficient way to do it

required to do 5 days a week in the office when most businesses went back to 5 days in office by 2023. The 2 days people work from home is likely the reason for the required overtime. When people work from home they waste tons of time doing personal things on the clock.

AAA Developers know what they are signing up for from day 1. If you can't handle long work weeks, then you either need to switch professions or find a small studio or if you do work AAA you should exclusively be looking at private companies. The funniest thing is people complaining about being

But no one is forcing people to work there. Certain jobs just demand overtime, things get really expensive when deadlines are missed. I've never felt bad for any dev who had to do "crunch". I worked as an Architect for 25 years and I'm sorry but a 60hr work week would have felt like a vacation.

I think it really depends how involved the studio head is in the actual development. I imagine some studio heads are 100% business, where you would probably never even notice & some actually get hands on with the game development, where overruling decisions they make could severely change the game

Ok... You realize that the GA's has had more viewership than the Superbowl for the last 4 years by more than 20m each year... A 30s commercial during the Super Bowl costs $7-10m. Also not all of the trailers get charged, it depends on when it is

"this is a neX Box" lol. I honestly don't know how MS executives can look at this and think that it's a good idea to release a next gen console. They are doing well as a publisher. I mean with the exception of EA and 2K, MS pretty much bought the top 10 selling games. They should focus on that
