A 2011 study [showed] that a wolf was killed north of Great Sacandaga Lake in 2001 & 2 others...from Vermont's Northeast Kingdom in 1998 & 2006. This suggests...either wolves...raised in captivity found a way to escape or wild wolves are beginning to re-populate the area. [I edited for brevity]

Found out the same thing about a cat I had growing up! When my parents had taken her to the vet near the end of her life, they took an x-ray and found the same thing. I still have that x-ray. My cousins had found her as a stray so we didn't know her backstory.
