From American Airlines this morning:
"Due to the prolonged government shutdown, the FAA has directed all airlines, including American, to reduce flight schedules at certain airports starting Friday, Nov. 7."

Cool. No one travels in November, right? 🙃

The latest releases of @cilium.io and cert-manager are both 1.18.2. I briefly thought I had just installed the wrong version of one of them, but it truly is just a weird coincidence.

...or is it?

The Daniels Running Formula has influenced my philosophy on training more than anything else. Period. His contributions to the sport of running will continue to be felt for a long, long time.

@filippo.abyssdomain.expert Is the Go Cryptographic Module validated? The Go Blog (go.dev/blog/fips140) says "validated," but it doesn't appear in the NIST list of validated modules (csrc.nist.gov/projects/cry...).
The FIPS 140-3 Go Cryptographic Module - The Go Programming Language
Go now has a built-in, native FIPS 140-3 compliant mode.

I don't understand how saying "backslash" in URLs became a mainstream mix-up. The person saying it almost always just means "slash" or "forward slash" if you're being verbose. But I hear people say "backslash" all the time. Just heard it in an ad on a podcast.

I'm starting a movement. #JustSaySlash

it will never not bother me that the people building AI tools didn't first focus on making computers do the tedious drudge work that nobody likes doing and instead have spent bazillions of dollars getting computers to do the things that enrich human lives.

A piece of collateral damage in this new age is lack of understanding of the value of infrastructure.

Quality infrastructure takes creativity, it’s fascinating, it’s crucial. We’ve lost the plot, relegating it to being described as a cost center.

Infrastructure is muscle, infrastructure is bone.

Hot take: If you're sitting in a large room with rows of mostly empty chairs, don't take the first seat on the aisle. It just means the next person has to climb over you.

According to @gjtempleton.bsky.social, I'm allowed to claim I'm a member of SIG Autoscaling now. Ask me about Vertical Pod Autoscaling. Let me know up front if you want the response to be timeboxed.

@robcube.bsky.social is presenting using sign language with someone speaking aloud to interpret for the hearing audience, then...back into sign language in the bottom left corner of the frame. Plus captions. About interpreting sign language with AI. Lots of translating in this talk.

@excalidraw.com is cool. I started using it recently and ramped up way faster than I did with other similar tools. Kudos to the team there.
