We turned up at a friend‘s room at college, only to be told he wasn’t there “because he was toasting in the kitchen”. It’s 35 years ago, but that moment of someone being baffled by us morons sniggering is still a vivid memory.

Not sure I agree with this. That seems like a reasonable word to use when your discussing your new Massenkommunikationsdienstleistungsunternehmen.

Hearing that Perry is gone fucking sucks. That’s such a great article I’ll forgive you for failing to put Just Like Heaven in your top 5.

Yes. In a functioning banking system you’d want to. Loans made to businesses and consumers constitute most of the assets of banks. If you couldn’t use assets as collateral then next time a credit-worthy person tried to get a loan the bank would have to tell them sorry, we don’t have any money left.

A well-deserved break. I Just got back from IKEA so you don’t need to tell me how exhausting it can be searching for a chair.

Those things are certainly true, but I’m not sure what that has to do with Ed. If you’re going to write about valuations, P/E ratios, employee share sales etc. then I prefer the work of people who understand the subject. The AI industry is full of bullshitters. We need less BS, not more.
December 17, 2025 at 6:57 PM
My Ed highlights from 2025 include you not being able to comprehend that a private company could have a P/E ratio, and confusing only $6.6bn of OpenAI employee sellers with a lack of buyers.

Sometimes a bit of background knowledge can be helpful.

Sorry, I thought you were suggesting that a consumer report totalling owner complaints might have used a methodology skewed by politics. I apologise for the misunderstanding.
December 16, 2025 at 12:10 PM
It’s a comparison of owner-reported problems for vehicles owned for more than 5 years, and you’re skeptical of the results because it doesn’t include new cars? Try the German TÜV report (it’s our equivalent of MOT/NCT) to find out who makes the least reliable newer cars.

You say this like it’s a bad thing that the President is a racist liar. Are you trying to distract us from the real scandal: that Biden is old?

Easiest question for the media ever:

“Sir, which 5 words did the doctors ask you to memorise during your most recent dementia screening?”

Oh yeah thats going to suck. Never had that issue with Asics (Or Nike or Adidas). Maybe it’s a weird feature of some brand‘s idea of what “female” sports clothing should be.
December 4, 2025 at 8:08 PM
Skins compression layer then mostly ASICS on top of that. What are you running in that doesn’t work, and what aspect of it doesn’t work, if you don’t mind me asking?

Why would they need internal team transfers so more humans can focus on this? Why don’t they just use AI?
December 2, 2025 at 12:05 PM
Sorry “blame” is probably the wrong word. I just think we have to recognise and emphasise that the confusion hasn’t happened by accident. Musk, Altman etc. are all actively working to confuse the public to think that their “AI” consumer product is the same thing as a unrelated useful technology.

I miss A Question of a Question of Sport, where current and former sports celebrities answer questions about A Question of Sport.
December 1, 2025 at 11:15 AM
I agree your broader point, but not sure the blame for this falls on the public Chris. The big LLM providers are doing everything they can to muddy the waters so that people think the product they’re desperate for consumers to buy is the same a somethinging that’s actually useful.

Same with Radcliffe & Maconie, but even more grating during Cerys. Who at the BBC thinks that listeners tuning in to hear her gentle tones bringing music from every corner of the globe wants a half hourly summary of news for racist bigots?

Did mine at 19 (a very long time ago). 9 jurors were bored housewives. We heard the charge “possession with intent to supply” and the “not guilty“ plea then were sent out because of a technicality. We had heard zero evidence. The ladies were ready to convict because “drugs are really bad”. Scary.
