Much love to you ♥️

No worries. It's kind of a relief that they're finally coming after regular people's rights. Maybe the normies will finally wake up.

Me either. Last time I looked it was all pr0n and torrents. Pity, because mid 90s it was a thriving community "before the dark times, before thecempire"

Thanks. I'm done with meta so looking to start over
January 13, 2025 at 7:52 AM
Great article. I was running dial-up BBS systems from a time before the internet was commercially available. The current dominance of Meta is exactly what the old open source community driven hackers were warning us about. Combined with Twister they are destroying representative democracy

Yep. And it worked. Imagine that.

This site is still "owned" by someone who is, almost certainly tracking and selling our data and has the ability to advance or silence users.

We are still serfs.

I long for the days of open-source and "information wants to be free" that was the hacker mantra from the 80s and 90s

We actually had online versions that were free and open. Usenet News was one. Kind of like reddit.

The issue is it became a source for porn and illegal download.

Also, wasn't as pretty as Facebook. But I remember a time in the 90s when I checked usent daily and had "friends" on there.

Download an NNTP client and you are good to go.
January 11, 2025 at 5:44 AM
What you are asking for was invented in 1986, is free and distributed and is called NNTP.

Used a LOT in the early days of the internet and then everyone "kinda" forgot about it.

You have made it into a thing, to which the only possible relationship is a power relationship. And thus you have fatally impoverished your own reality.
