Yeah well if you wanted him to understand your views on prison reform, maybe you should write a book on it and make the cover your profile picture

The paper looks pretty interesting, the social media post from the SSRN page just doesn't do it justice.

Owing to force of habit, the original post included the Freudian slip "statutory," but luckily he's surrounded by enough people very familiar with the term who could alert him instantly.

The coin appears to agree with you.

"1776-2026" makes it seem it's finished a lifespan too.

Wait before you change your reply settings, I wanted to say hi. We've actually worked together and you were awesome.

Idk this is awkward but figured might as well try just in case

Curious about the impact of "defund the police" on response #3. Often seems people assume the slogan negatively polarized people, but I don't know. Without the slogan, does it become a salient policy question? Do they feel more ok saying #2 because rejecting #1 lets them feel safe and moderate?

Wasn't that the person he wanted to take over for the us attorney he'd been talking about in the previous sentences? Where is the idea that he's suggesting replacing Bondi coming from?

I'd have no idea how to find the first one since it was interviewing him on the campaign trail obviously - so harder to navigate. And I don't remember the date. Just remember having one of my parents sending it and tracking the development from there.

If it came from elsewhere, I'd be curious where

He has been making that 'argument' for a long time (over a year and a half?) but are we sure it hadn't started as exactly this erroneous equivocation? It seemed like it first came up in one of his ad lib segments of a presser and did seem like it was an error that later he kept doubling down on.

This comment in the context of Levy's "clown show" makes me picture a single clown doing a ridiculous, chaotic, offensive routine vs 270+ clowns doing a perfectly choreographed version of the very same.

There's no substance to this, but the image was too funny to not mention.

It may have started even further back, but private donors for the Contras in Nicaragua also wanted to sign bombs

Feels like a burden to ask you to discuss all the nuance here, but any chance you could post any good papers? It may be relevant for some of my own academic work (either research or teaching, unsure exactly where it fits until I learn more).

CVS does offer delivery, usually through Shipt (&maybe other courriers). Putting the package in the lobby is smart, but one thing you might also consider is putting a post-it on your door that says eg "if you're looking for a delivery, I've taken it to the lobby" in case they check your unit #.

The information environment can be an upstream cause of some of the more immediate issues -- mostly around losing funding and jobs -- electorally. But I'd say the poor info environment stops the science from being applied moreso than stopping researchers themselves from doing science.
August 30, 2025 at 10:45 PM
I'm actually not certain that the information environment is the problem for scientific advancement right now. I feel like it's still quite easy to find existing literature and sorting good from junk info has always been central to the job.

Anyone have a # for how many times "unreviewable" has been invoked in these cases? And does anyone know what baseline it can be compared to?

I suspect it's coming up way more now. If this is the case, it'd be nice to have some concrete evidence to point to.

"What does the C stand for?"
"Nobody knows! It was before anyone was paying attention, so it may as well have not been said"

I think there's something there.

I'll leave it open that there may be some exceptions to the rule, particularly if someone used memoirs as a way to document struggles of a larger community. But that requires them to be born in the right context and have generational skill in writing, philosophy, social criticism, etc.

So not him.
August 24, 2025 at 8:59 PM
Like a lot of the commenters, my first thought was to see if I could think of anyone who had 3 books worth of biographical content before 45.

But I think your point stands for memoirs. Anyone who did enough interesting stuff wasn't interested in writing about themselves, especially that much.
