Of course military force could be used as part of a strategy to defeat or remove Hamas from power. However, the current Israeli govt. has made it abundantly clear that they prefer Hamas over any viable alternative.

My sense is that the rhetoric is not the primary cause but rather the constant flow of horrific visuals and testimonials of human suffering is the main driver of public outrage.
