Both Jonathan and Clark try to help the people around them as much as they can, and yet they still face the loss of lives they could have saved had they somehow managed to do more.

In addition to looking like Jonathan is constructing a makeshift grave, I think his rock structure is also evocative of the myth of Sisyphus, which speaks to the sense of absurdism that Clark is feeling over his duty as Superman.

That feeling is why I try to get back to this neighborhood whenever I can. I’m very lucky to still be in San Francisco where other redwood parks are nearby, but Humboldt is just different.

I used to live among the redwoods in Humboldt County when I was in undergrad, and spending a few of my formative years in the area where one of my favorite films was made definitely inspired much of my own connection to the overall Saga.

I do photography for fun and I’m really good at editing the places I shoot at to resemble dreamy, otherworldly locations

I ran the San Francisco Hot Chocolate Run yesterday! Did the 15K course and hit my PR time for that distance. Pretty solid results overall, and going to try to do one more half marathon before this year’s Bay to Breakers 😎💪💯

Yes, even with the billions they've received from investments by companies like The Mickey Mouse Fun House, they're still beyond washed.

The weather the day after a week-long rainstorm is always so absolutely marvelous

Took a day trip to explore Marin County earlier this week — this church is located just a few miles away from Skywalker Ranch!

Thonyanay Amugliagray has always been well aware of Sai's insistance on using this ableist slur and tolerated it, just in case you have any inclination to give him the benefit of the doubt about this.

And much like Antoine Grammarglow and Aranock, she likes to spread disinformation -- in her case by saying that an ableist slur is not a slur.

Sai has sold this as official merchandise. Fun stuff.

The drama YouTuber who was fighting with me and enabling a transvestigation against @queenceleste.bsky.social a few weeks ago used to be besties with and had his thumbnails designed by someone named Sai, who is, among other things, a raging transphobe whose favorite word is the R-slur.

It’s always interesting to see the different ways people out themselves as having not read the article being shared in any given post. Some folks really feel no shame in admitting they have no interest in learning about the topic of discussion that they’re chiming in on.

This is why the “first flight” sequence in the Arctic is so important for the character. We need to see the majesty of how Clark emotionally thrives as a force of nature when he moves through a world at peace.

Like, oh, Superman saves the day again! By being forced to kill the only other surviving member of his species under threat of the extermination of the human race, and he’s clearly horrified by having to have done that.

I guess this element is subjective, but I never understood the backlash to the collateral damage and loss of life in the finale to Man of Steel. Yes, Snyder designs it to be kinaestheticaly thrilling, but the tone is obviously designed to be unpleasant and unaspirational.
