Would’ve been a sensible move at this stage for sure

Ultimately, the decision was his, but he should be having words with whoever advised him to move to Villa on that deal considering their recent history of PSR issues. Can’t imagine Liverpool will be too pleased either, getting him back next summer with his value tanked.

The ability is definitely there. If he has the right attitude, he’ll succeed. I’m less sure about Simons.

Very annoying that Haaland appears to be doing to us exactly what Salah did last season.

Saka has got it in him to go on a mad run though, let’s hope it starts next game!

Almost as if it’s one of those that only gets given against Arsenal
November 9, 2025 at 7:11 PM
His creativity numbers look surprisingly good, but I’ve not watched him and been wowed at all yet. Hopefully it continues.
November 9, 2025 at 7:09 PM
Yeah, same. I feel like if we had that decision go for us, we’d have got a bit lucky.
November 9, 2025 at 7:07 PM
It’s actually a real shame Liverpool weren’t in a position to spend more last summer. Had Slot not been forced into sticking with what he had, we might’ve seen this a year sooner.
November 9, 2025 at 7:04 PM
But Raya coming off his line was a result of us allowing Sunderland the chances to get at us. The sub sent the wrong message. We looked comfortable. No need to invite the pressure imo. It was still a good second half performance away against a good side, just a very disappointing end.
November 9, 2025 at 11:31 AM
Don’t know if it would’ve worked or not, but what we do know is that by bringing on a defender for an attacker invited them to have a go at us for 15 mins. It sent the wrong message imo. Nørgaard is a good shout too. Just get someone on who can shut it down and hold onto the ball.
November 9, 2025 at 9:41 AM
Surely it’s only the “right call” if it works? I totally get the thinking though, but I’d rather have seen Nwaneri come on and keep the ball further up the pitch.
November 9, 2025 at 8:40 AM
Yeah, there were some nice moves resulting in chances from open play. The second half performance was definitely a positive. Worth noting Sunderland have been defensively tight at home too, so scoring 2 was decent.
November 9, 2025 at 8:27 AM
Oh yeah, I get his thinking. We don’t concede, low chance of conceding 2 in a game we were comfortable in? The mistakes for the second goal were uncharacteristic, we should’ve dealt with it. Another day we do. I just think it was a bit negative of him when we were in control. Fine margins indeed!
November 9, 2025 at 8:24 AM
Yeah, we’ll never know, but taking off an attacker for a defender, when we were clearly the better team, invited them onto us more than it would had we put someone on who could keep the ball further up the pitch. Overall I was happy with the second half, but frustrated with the manner of the draw.
November 9, 2025 at 8:07 AM
Yep, it really is. They were going to try to attack regardless, but the sub just gave them more encouragement. We looked more likely to score again at that stage. Obvs no guarantee a different sub would’ve won the game, but someone who can hold on to the ball + energy would’ve shut it down imo.
November 9, 2025 at 7:20 AM
Replacing Eze with Mosquera was needless. Should’ve used Nwaneri and kept the ball further up the pitch. I was really pleased on the whole with that second half but that equaliser was so avoidable.

100%
November 8, 2025 at 3:57 PM
Surely he’d be crazy to take it? Has any team that’s had only 2 points after 10 games ever stayed up before?
November 6, 2025 at 4:58 PM
Last season saw lots of surprise results so some of the traditional big sides were in a level of jeopardy going into the final round. That was quite interesting. This season hasn’t been like that. I’d rather see a return to the old format, but if they do change it, it’ll be to add yet more games!
November 6, 2025 at 6:06 AM
Yep, exactly that. Look at the crap they clip up for the socials. It’s a shame really because I think a lot more people than the TV companies realise would be interested in something more insightful, but like you said, it’s more about content engagement than creating a genuinely good TV experience.
November 5, 2025 at 6:44 PM
I completely agree with you, but I reckon the TV bosses just consider the average football fan to be a bit of an idiot and have little interest in actual tactics.
November 5, 2025 at 4:39 PM
Yeah. Sanchez had proven himself in Italy and Spain too. I think there have been attitude/training issues too. Just too much of a gamble for the money that was rumoured.
November 5, 2025 at 11:55 AM
Depending on the offence, if you’re reliant on driving for your income they allow you to continue to drive, but with big fines/penalties. Hard to argue why a multimillionaire footballer can’t just employ a driver to take him to/from training though. He must’ve had a great lawyer previously.
November 5, 2025 at 11:13 AM
I’d have been happy to sign him, but not for anywhere near the money being mentioned. Can’t imagine it would’ve been great for squad harmony to come in on huge money. Couldn’t believe people were comparing him to Sanchez!? He just doesn’t have that real star player confidence/energy about him imo.
