Still seems like that movie could maybe work, until you learn that the “Downey Jr.” is Morton.

Apparently there was thinking that since "The Right Stuff" was coming out just before the primaries, Glenn could get an advantage from his positive portrayal in that -- but the film flopped at the box office.

I was too young to know firsthand, but I think the '83-'84 opinion on him was that he was just too boring -- and given that we nominated Mondale that year, that must've really been saying something.
