Great to be at the #PoCoG World Psycho-Oncology Day event celebrating 20 years of world-leading #psyonc research done by PoCoG, including lots of great fear of cancer recurrence research, which I’ve been fortunate to be part of
Lots more work (particularly implementation) to do in the next 20 years

🧵3/7 That’s why we’ve worked with almost 100 health professionals & researchers to create a step-by-step plan (ie, clinical pathway) for health professionals to identify & support those experiencing fear of cancer recurrence in routine cancer care #SurvOnc #PsyOnc link.springer.com/article/10.1...

🧵1/7 'What if the #cancer comes back?' is a thought that troubles most people affected by cancer (see onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/...) For some, these worries (ie, fear of cancer recurrence), stop them from thriving & planning for the future #PsyOnc #SurvOnc

These were not the results we'd hoped for, but we share valuable lessons for others developing FCR/P interventions, especially for people with advanced cancer living with great uncertainty. Please read the 📰 to learn more & share with your colleagues 3/4 bmccancer.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....

Despite showing promise in breast cancer survivors (link.springer.com/article/10.1...) iConquerFear doesn't seem suitable for women affected by ovarian cancer.
We found limited engagement, varied acceptability, safety concerns & minimal group differences in FCR/P after iConquerFear use 2/4

We partnered with Ovarian Cancer Australia on a pilot #RCT of a self-guided online fear of recurrence/progression intervention #iConquerFear to fill the need for accessible interventions for people affected by ovarian cancer bmccancer.biomedcentral.com/articles/10....
