Enjoying a slice of Rotterdam's turbulent history with the recent publication ‘Leve Rotterdam!’ by Siebe Thissen and ‘De grote Vechtpartij’ by Blaise Cendrars, published in 1977. Both books are set in ‘De Polder’, Rotterdam's notorious slum, which was torn down in 1912.
