Peaceful nonviolent protest is the most effective way of fighting fascism. There have been many studies on this. I'm not just making it up.

The '3.5% rule': How a small minority can change the world
Nonviolent protests are twice as likely to succeed as armed conflicts – and those engaging a threshold of 3.5% of the population have never failed to bring about change.

Big tech needs to be prosecuted, regulated, and subjected to massive anti trust cases. Then placed under public and/or workplace democratic control.

Ok Musk I’ll play your stupid game, why did you give a “socialist” salute last year?
January 24, 2026 at 10:48 PM
I feel like the summary of Musk’s entire life is basically “man tries to destroy democracy rather than go to therapy”

“As a reasonable centrist, I think the camps… sorry detention facilities should be required to have gender neutral restrooms”

So would an antitrust crackdown be useful if it was combined with stricter regulations and public tech development?

We need to be talking to people outside the U.S. about what it would take to rebuild trust. And above all we need to realize this is going to take a lot of time and effort. The old normal is gone and that’s scary but the old normal also kinda sucked so this is a chance to make things better.(2/2)

I’d advise reading some of the posts by @skiles.blue he’s the ex federal employee who’s warning about the full implications of DOGE’s data theft and deregulation I mentioned earlier.

Honestly I was born here and I’m considering getting out of the country for the next few years if I can. Ultimately though my original point was doge was about data theft and deregulation why settle for one when they could have both?
December 31, 2025 at 1:09 PM
Personally I do think it was also about data theft too, I read a warning from a government employee who specifically said that the private data Doge was accessing and downloading to external servers and worse in someways consolidating on people is terrifying.

I think it was also about dismantling regulatory agencies. Especially ones investigating Musk.

I enjoy the nuances of that idea, instead of just a generic “things were better or things were worse” approach.

Makes sense, cool idea.

Well I’d be curious if that prevents the American civil war or makes it come earlier. But this is an intriguing idea, I honestly wish I’d thought of it for one of my timelines.
December 30, 2025 at 6:57 PM
That’s an interesting concept, I’d be interested in reading more about. Has someone written this timeline or is it just the basic premise?
December 30, 2025 at 10:52 AM
Yes but if you close your eyes plug your ears and say “nuh-uh” over and over the basic laws of economics and finance will become irrelevant, at least until the magic machine finally gets finished.

Case in point, Walt Disney for all his faults and problematic views refused to make sequels to his animated films in his lifetime. Whatever his ideological positions I doubt he’d be happy with the idea of a Gaston sequel.
December 15, 2025 at 11:38 PM
Which doesn’t excuse the current Disney but it reminds me to try and not automatically extend any organization goodwill just because at other times other parts of the same group did something I enjoyed and/or agreed with.
December 15, 2025 at 11:33 PM
It helps me to recognize that these organizations are controlled by ever shifting generations/factions of people. The Disney of now isn’t the same as the past, which can be a good thing but can also be a bad thing when the current faction allies with the worst people.
