Watching this Knicks-Spurs game and enjoying KAT hoops while also missing the Christmas Day jerseys the NBA used to roll out.

The Timberwolves have some cool jerseys, but these are up on the list for me

Defense this good is hard work and SO fun to watch

Wolves had a lot of issues finishing against the Wemby problem. Donte had two of these buckets that show just how ridiculous it is to make shots with him defending the rim.

When Jaden is hustling like this defensively his fingerprints are all over the game. I know I personally don't give him enough credit for bringing energy and I honestly think it is because of his deadpan demeanor.

Huge impact on winning!

Episode #65 of "Views from Hughes" after another defensive victory against the Spurs. Going to continue but try to make these shorter to make them easier to consume.

Let's hop in!

One of Mike's primary roles since he became a Timberwolf is his ability to "chase the shooter". Love his effort here to get a really good contest on a great shooter in Knecht. Also watch the connectivity defensively to force the tough look

Jaden McDaniels steals have been a massive story the last two games and it's cool to see him use his length to disrupt these passes. Similar to Wemby blocks, there are times players are thinking "oh s*** he really got to that?"

This will be a big thing when Rob plays. If he can consistently punish his matchup for going under screens he becomes that much harder to take off the floor
December 16, 2024 at 10:26 PM
Rob's burst and quick filling of the lane to activate transition is something big that he can bring to the table every time he is out there
December 16, 2024 at 8:33 PM
It's so interesting to watch Nickeil be so confident making difficult passes with his left hand. Loves to finish on that side as well.
December 16, 2024 at 8:19 PM
Jaden McDaniels rebounding uptick not only helps them in the obvious statistical category, but can help improve transition offense as well. Grab-and-go rebounding can be huge for turning misses into fast breaks, McDaniels can help with that.

Plus an ambidextrous Nickeil pass

Naz Reid has 9 blocks in the last 5 games and has always been a good shot blocker even if his overall rim protection can be lacking at times. He will never be Rudy, but this is his way of stopping shots at the rim and making his front court pairing with Randle continue trend up
December 10, 2024 at 8:10 PM
Everyone is (rightly) beating this drum so I will add to it. Ant-Rudy lobs are easy offense if he can do it consistently. Rudy may have his issues catching the ball but when you give it to him high he is extremely good at tracking and throwing it down.
December 10, 2024 at 8:06 PM
This one is with Randle but this is a great way to punish teams if they put 2 on the ball with Ant. While Ant still may hesitate to throw it to Rudy in this situation, he would not be if it was Mike. Conley will also almost always make the right decision
December 10, 2024 at 5:07 PM
On this point, I will take Julius decisively taking the three like these over indecision on what he wants to do which bleeds the entire possession. His willingness to shoot the C&S threes is imperative to the offense especially with the starters
December 10, 2024 at 4:56 PM
Easy to pluck a bad play and project it but almost every possession looked like this in clutch time for the Wolves. Dribbling the air out of the ball, no direction and an out of rhythm shot
December 10, 2024 at 4:54 PM
This shot chart is insane
December 10, 2024 at 4:47 PM
Nickeil has been a legit *role player level* three level scorer this season. Offensively adding to his bag and shooting a high percentage while doing so
December 10, 2024 at 4:47 PM
Episode #64 of "Views from Hughes" from last night's rough ending that sunk the 5 game win streak hopes. I chose a play from wayyy earlier in the game... the first play

Anyway, let's hop in!

Episode #63 of "Views from Hughes" after a 1-1 split in Golden State but Wolves seem to be in a much better spot. Despite yesterday's late game collapse it's easier to stomach knowing what the good looks like and see the path to get back to this standard.

Let's hop in!
December 9, 2024 at 6:33 PM
Wolves run this play almost all the time immediately after DiVincenzo subs in. Watch how hard three(!) players jump at him to prevent a shot
December 9, 2024 at 5:52 PM
A big issue with playing non-shooters is not just that they can't shoot, it's that they are guarded as non-shooters (re-Kyle Anderson last season discourse)

Well, despite DDV's struggles he is 100% still being guarded as a lethal shooter. And that helps the offense
December 9, 2024 at 5:51 PM
We saw the full range of outcomes of Ant the playmaker over the weekend but this was a great read in a similar situation as hitting Rudy on that short roll. Steph tries to stop that pocket pass and Ant skips to Jaden. Also why Jaden's shotmaking is a huge domino in the offense
December 9, 2024 at 5:40 PM
We saw a strong dosage of 2 on the ball for Ant pick and rolls with these 2 games but Edwards HAS TO continue to trust Rudy in the short roll and the 4v3 situations. He's shown the ability to make a good decision out of it and it will lead to open looks a lot of the time
