I think this is correct and I also think it's the fundamental truth that the American electorate is collectively racist and misogynist. Harris was milquetoast, but "basically doing nothing" was infinitely favorable to the active malice of the current admin.

My favorite bit from that era was the continued devolution of the vicinity to the point where OTB was gonna move into The Source, and despite being exempt from zoning, reversed course after the locals lost their shit. The Rechler/Wang proposal offered $2bn(!!) of private investment PRE GFC!!

It's really not and that was an illusion during the absolute nadir of GOP national relevance in the years between 2008 and 2016. Career criminal Ed Mangano won an upset election here in 2009. It has been a right wing stronghold since time immemorial. It practically invented white flight
