Coming from that evangelical world personally, I think it’s easy to assume the grass is greener elsewhere. We’re living in a hellscape of fog machines and celebrity preachers and market-driven church planting and look over at mainline folks and think, “Maybe liturgy will save us.”

The thing that’s always struck me about that story is nobody thinks to ask, “Teacher, Jacob had two wives and two weird side chick situations. Whose husband will he be?” Or “Solomon had 700 wives.“ It’s only a problem when it’s one woman and multiple dudes

When you say that, what do you envision, specifically? Individual citizens praying in repentant prayer for their own sins? Collective prayers of repentance in churches? The President repenting for what he has done and enabled others to do? The USA apologizing to Venezuela for killing fishermen?
