“Towards thee I roll, thou all-destroying but unconquering whale; to the last I grapple with thee; from hell’s heart I stab at thee; for hate’s sake I spit my last breath at thee.”

—Captain Ahab
There are big “if you don’t struggle, it will hurt less” vibes radiating from this.

The world is a place where pain lingers, untended. A loving God would end such suffering, but it persists—babies wail with hunger, animals are torn apart in the wild, and the sick die in their solitude. The earth is full of grief that has no cause, no justice.

In my latest brief, I defend Princess Elisabeth’s causal argument against Descartes’ substance dualism. The essence of that defense appeals to what Jaegwon Kim calls “the pairing problem.” What relation pairs mental causes with physical effects? Materialism, but not substance dualism, has an answer.

Fun fact: Illusionists DO NOT claim consciousness is illusory. The deny that introspection reveals the true nature of consciousness. What are we left with?
A nation of god-fearing pregnant nationalists
Who feel it's their duty to populate the homeland
Pass on traditions
How to get ahead religions
And prosperity via simpleton culture (ah-)
The idiots are taking over

“You have to carry the fire."
I don't know how to."
Yes, you do."
Is the fire real? The fire?"
Yes it is."
Where is it? I don't know where it is."
Yes you do. It's inside you. It always was there. I can see it.”
