One of the huge blocks to the north-east of Long Meg. Burl mentions that some of the stones that make up the circle could not have been moved by less than '135 well-organised workers'. #StandingStoneSunday #Cumbria

Castlerigg, from a recent visit. It was autumnal and completely still.

I love the idea that the circle is somehow inspired by reverence for the incredible hills like Blencathra and Skiddaw that surround it. No proof of course....

Watched Rear Window, Heretic and The Running Man at the weekend. TRM was ridiculously entertaining.

Particularly enjoyed seeing Jesse Ventura sashaying across the screen as 'Captain Freedom'. I'm looking forward to the new version by Edgar Wright.

Dreaming of this still and bright June day at the top of Castle Crag, Borrowdale. Bliss it was in that dawn to be alive, etc, etc.

Busy few weeks, against a backdrop of complete global s***show.

This was one of my favourite moments, finding a bit of flint debitage in a field in North Yorkshire. Most likely last held by fingers other than mine 4500-7000 years ago.

The now deconsecrated Church of St Mary (1840) at Elvetham Hall, Hampshire.

Nearby the Elvetham Entertainment was held for Queen Elizabeth 1 in 1591 #SteepleSaturday. 📸's my own from last week.
