The AMWHO conference examined the health risks arising from the US withdraw from WHO — forfeiting US leadership in the World Health Assembly & abandoning American influence in crucial WHO reforms.

The past two weeks have been relentlessly challenging for human rights in global health – with many of our initial fears borne out in the rapid

🏥 abandonment of evidence-based public health policy &
⚖️ erosion of democracy and the rule of law.

U.S. President John F. Kennedy launched USAID in 1961, establishing U.S. leadership to assist nations throughout the world to prevent disease & promote health.
We must look back on the birth of this U.S. commitment to global health…and the lives lost in today’s abandonment of U.S. leadership.
